Achaemenid Warrior Pendant – All Gold

Product Number: PAG-RET-3570-PN-SG

Product Description

This 24k gold-overlay collectible is based on the art that adorns the walls of Persepolis, the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (550-330 B.C.). The Achaemenid Warrior was a significant part of the grand military that projected the physical power of the ancient dynasty.

Feared for their mass scale of attack, these warriors ruled over a vast portion of Persia. The most accomplished among them earned the title “Immortal” and as soon as one fell in battle, another would immediately appear to take his place.

The warriors protected territories under their watch using elite combat skills. Some claim there were about 150,000 soldiers in the Persian army, with the Immortals numbering around 10,000. The warriors’ attire consisted of fabric clothing, slacks, shirts and tunics, which provided great flexibility during battle. The body armor was typically scale-metal and the soldiers fought with wicker shield to protect themselves against flying arrows. These war fighters were a force to be reckoned with.

Today modern Iranians long to recapture the governing style of their ancestors whose policies and methods created and sustained the world’s first truly multinational empire. A new generation of Iranians has once again learned that the foundations of such a lasting union must be rooted in respect for all beliefs and universal human rights.
