The face motif traces its origins to artwork carved onto the front of a silver flask or vase belonging to the Sassanian Civilization (6th-7th century). The artifact is one of numerous Persian metallic treasures kept at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. The piece is believed to have been acquired by the museum in 1925.
The name ‘Sun Lady’ (or Khosheed Khanoom in Persian) was given to the ancient feminine form by Pars Art Galleries in 2005 and adopted as part of the company’s permanent corporate identity. It best exemplifies the beauty and kindness of Iranian women.
